A Visit to the Wolf Sanctuary
Urban Peak youth recently adventured to Colorado Springs for a visit to the Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center. They met the wolves Nanuk and Luna, along with a variety of farm and house pets, including dogs, cats, birds, ferrets, a horse and mini ponies.

During the tour, staff taught youth about wolves, foxes, coyotes and even "singing dogs." Youth learned about the animals’ importance to our ecosystem and how we can all work towards protecting them, which gave them a newfound love and respect for these beautiful creatures.
To wrap up, everyone joined in a big group AWOOOOOOO, with the sanctuary’s animals howling right back—a surreal and magical moment. Some youth were so moved by the experience that they took time to say goodbye to each animal before leaving.
The special day ended with lunch in a small mountain town, where everyone reflected on the experience with gratitude. This will surely be a trip to remember!
