Mothership Design

The Mothership was first envisioned back in 2017 in conjunction with our partners at Shopworks Architecture and BlueLine Development, both experts in the fields of trauma-informed design which explores how housing can promote dignity for its residents. There were many permutations over the next six years as we worked to settle on a design that would most effectively meet the needs of youth experiencing homelessness.

After years of brainstorming, interviews with youth and staff, focus groups and over a thousand meetings- an innovative and trauma-informed design was finalized that will meet the needs of youth experiencing homelessness.

Urban Peak officially broke ground at the future site of The Mothership (1630 S. Acoma St., also the site of our old shelter) on January 23, 2023! We were thrilled to be joined by partners from across this awesome community whose support was essential in turning this dream into a reality. To our board members, staff, community partners and government representatives, thank you so much for joining us on this auspicious day!
