October 2024 Peak Spotlight - Career Fair
Urban Peak kicked off the month of October by hosting a career fair for our youth. We were thrilled to see that more than 30 of them attended and, even more impressive, eight youth left the fair with job offers from Arc and LAZ Parking!
Whether youth or employer, everyone expressed how nice it was to be able to meet at The Mothership. Anthony, hiring manager for LAZ Parking, noted that he could tell the youth were much more comfortable being in their element at The Mothership. Youth also shared in this sentiment; Simeon had become frustrated with continuing to go to job interviews and never hearing back, but he left the fair with a job offer from LAZ!

Some heartwarming highlights of the career fair include Ray getting help with his tie from Ben Kinghorn, our director of programs, Simeon and Raejahnay being immediately offered positions with LAZ parking, and Anthony being extremely impressed with our youth. “I’m glad I made it, I never would’ve met half these youth, especially Simeon,” he shared. “I can see him moving up quickly in our company!” We love to hear it! 😊
We are so grateful to our employment partners for showing up for our youth, meeting them where they are and encouraging them to explore potential new career paths. Having everyone together at The Mothership was hugely helpful in reducing barriers that youth often face when looking for employment, and we look forward to hosting many more job fairs!
