Chance

Chance needed to get away from a difficult home situation and was drawn to Denver by the beauty of the Rocky Mountains and possibility for a fresh start. She arrived in winter 2024 with little more than a few jackets, before being referred to Urban Peak.

“When I went in there, I didn’t expect to get fed breakfast, so I was like wow,” she explained. Unfortunately, she was too old to access Urban Peak’s overnight shelter services at The Spot, so she worked with her case manager to find temporary residence among the safe outdoor spaces in Denver.

After coming back to Urban Peak last year as a 23-year-old, Chance was grateful to find that she could now stay in The Mothership’s overnight adults’ shelter with its expanded age range. She has been actively working with her case manager to obtain a housing voucher and was recently accepted! From here, she and her partner are excited to move into an apartment of their own next month. Once settled, she hopes to go to culinary school or become a hairdresser. You’ve got this, Chance!
