Urban Peak’s Next Chapter

In late July 2024, after more than seven years of planning, brainstorming, designing, fundraising and re-designing- Urban Peak celebrated the grand opening of our new campus, The Mothership.

Hundreds of community partners from across Denver gathered for our grand opening

They say it takes a village, and in this case it is 100% true. So many key players across different industries, from donors to community partners to the government and more, made the construction of The Mothership possible through their generosity and tireless efforts. Denver Mayor Mike Johnston summed it up best when he spoke at the ribbon-cutting ceremony:

“Every person in this city should feel proud that they own this and should feel proud that they built this, because this is us at our best. The Mothership is what love looks like in a physical form.”

One month later, on August 27th, 2024, the long-awaited day finally arrived: time for youth to move into their beautiful new home!

Urban Peak staff stood at attention in the Great Room (front lobby), eagerly awaiting the first busload of youth arriving at their new home. As our first few clients stepped off the bus and through the entranceway, the whole room burst into applause and cheers. It was busy and inspiring all at once.

Urban Peak staff welcome youths Caleb, Azul, Onyx and Sam to their new neighborhood

Azul and Onyx, who had originally met in the shelter dorm at The Spot, knew they worked well as room/dormmates, so they were excited to continue rooming together in their new dorm room in “The Peak” (independent living neighborhood) and truly make it their own.

Onyx’s reaction to their new home (pictured above) pretty much sums up how we were all feeling that day. 😊

Another youth, Kai, is a talented young musician and shared how excited he was to start using The Cube, our new music studio.

Move-in day was so exciting! Amidst all the activity, Caleb and Maria found a quiet moment alone in the courtyard to relax in their new home- capping off a busy day and marking a new chapter for Urban Peak and the youth we serve.
